Remstar Auto and Encore

Post by sleepgood » Mon Dec 04, 2006 1:08 pm

I have recently obtained a Remstar Auto w Cflex and have been downloading the nightly data off of the smart card to Encore. I have version 1.4.87 of Encore. I have noticed that the OA and H indices calculated on the daily details table are inconsistent with the number of flags shown in the "Sleep Therapy Flags" chart. For example, one night the chart only had 6 OA flags for 6 hours of therapy which should produce a OA index of 1.0. The chart showed 2.5. The same night the chart showed 16 hypopneas which should produce an H index of 2.7 but the chart showed 8.4. I have an older Remstar Auto without Cflex that didn't have this problem when I downloaded data. Has anyone else seen this problem? I believe this must be a problem with the software and not the machine. Could it be I am using too old a version of Encore?

What is the current Remstar you are using a "Tank" or The "M"agic? If you are using the "M"agic you need to upgrade the software. Jim

That software only works with the Classic version of the Remstar, current version is 1.7i, prior version was 1.6.22.

My guess is your problem is with the software you are using.

Snoredog, are you sure about version 1.7i? Looks like cpap.com is still selling 1.6.22.

On this same topic, my doc prescribed an auto which he wanted me to have before surgery. Of course insurance is fighting this because the code is the same for the auto and cpap. So I just went ahead and ordered a "tank" version of the Remstar from this site's sponsor. I'll finish my argument with the insurance company while I am recovering. My question is, will my version of Encore 1.5 work well with this unit, or will I need to upgrade to the latest version?

Thanks!

Yes, it will. Version 1.5 was developed for the release of the Bi-PAP Auto and version 1.6 was developed for the "M" Series machines. I'm using version 1.4.99 with my Pro 2 and "classic" Auto machines. I also have version 1.6 running in another computer and can't see any significant enhancements from the earlier versions.
The newer ones are all backward-compatible with the earlier machines.

Best wishes,

Den

The Remstar Auto w Cflex that I recently acquired is the Classic model not the new M Series. I hope this clarifies my original post.

Sleepgood,

Do you use the MyEncore software?
James Skinner also has developed one called Encore Pro Analyzer.

Mostly what I use Encore Pro for is to download the card and produce a daily .pdf file (for historical purposes).
I use the MyEncore for the REAL analysis of the data.

If you're using version 1.5 of Encore Pro, you'd need version 1.5B7 of MyEncore.
Here's the link for the download:
