knocked water on top of cpap machine- please help me!
I accidentally knocked over a glass of water on top of my cpap. (My cpap is on the floor and this glass of water was on the shelf by my bed) Now, it shows all of the numbers in lights, along with the water icon and it won't turn on and blow air. I have used a blow dryer to get it dried out and there is no progress. Please help!

Have you turned it over to let it drain (after removing humidifier water)? Put little cheesecloth packets of rice wherever to absorb the wet? Don't give up, but wait 2-3 days after diong the above and see if it works.

The best way to dry wet electronics is to put in a bag of rice and let it sit for days... it almost always works if you dont power on until it is dry. But if you turn on wet electronics then problems happen. You can try putting it in rice now and waiting before turning on again..

I have removed the humidifier for it to drain, I have made some progress with the hair dryer, some of the numbers are not flashing anymore and some are disappearing as well. I am still working on getting really dry. I may try the rice trick and see what happens. I also called my mom and she is lending me one of her cpaps until this one dries out or is replaced. Thanks for your suggestions. It's very much appreciated.

The hair dryer trick worked. My cpap is operating again.
I was a little nervous because don't have a back up cpap.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Failure to remove the water when turning a Series 60 upside down can cause a serious flooding problem. Although they have a water trap which tries to capture the water before it goes into the pump, if the humidifier is full some can get through which is a bad problem, potentially worse then spilling on the top. For that reason we always advise removing the humidifier before turning it over.xxyzx wrote: did you turn it over to help it drain
removing the water tank may let it drain better with that side down

To future readers:
Always immediately remove power anytime electronics gets wet and leave it unplugged from power until completely dry. Applying power while still wet is what ruins (smokes) electronic components. Tho water is not as bad as soda or coffee or other drinks with sugar in them.
Anytime you have drinks near your bed keep them in a capped bottle - capped as in screwed on not a sippy cup with a hole in it.
You can always put your cpap in a plastic container (on the floor) with the lid simply placed across the top. That would offer some protection from sound and water.

Advise to all.
If you need to have water by your bed, place it so that a spill will not get on any part of your CPAP or any other electronics.
Also, always dump the water from the tank before packing. Do this even if the manual says it's OK!

When packing in a hurry, I empty the tank and put a clean, scrunched up paper towel inside to catch any stray drops.

I guess that (strategy) is so much better than keeping water in a capped bottle (in your mind).D H. wrote:Advise to all.

Also, Remember to put your cpap mask on BEFORE going to sleep but after strategically placing the water.
If you insist on spilling your water you should use distilled water.
