Leakage normal?

Hi all, I've just updated from resmed s8 to a resmed s9, I know it's not the latest, but seems way better than the old one.
My question is, I've check the sleep results, and it comes up saying the leakage always seems to be around the 40 mark, once up as high as 60.. I'm still using my old mask which is a hc407, could this leakage be from the venting holes? The machine says the mask fit is good.. green smiley face.. I am using the humidifier and heated hose.. and thoughts or recommendations would be a big help.. have seen on YouTube where leakage is basically zero.. thanks all in advance. Cheers Odog

did you set the machine for a nasal mask. That may alter the leak rate settings, other than that I'd say you have a leak somewhere?

download sleepyhead, post a chart and get the forum to advise.

Yep it's set to nasal mask.. the mask has always seemed to blow out the venting holes, just thought that maybe the s9 is sensing it as a leak? Cheers

Don't ever cover the vent holes (or you'll rebreathe CO2), but you might just need to experiment more with different (and full face) masks, sizes, adjustments, etc. But venting from the CO2 patch does not count as leaks.

The machine's leak report/read out will compensate for the mask vent.

When I had too high of a leak rate, I ran a short test while awake so I could be sure that there were no inadvertent leaks. This proved that it was the mask's breather ports which have worn. A new mask solved the problem.

Can you post a sleepyhead graph of the leak rate for the night? Are your settings set up exactly the same on the S9 as was the S8? I wonder if you're opening your mouth at night or something.

Thanks so much, maybe the mask is getting a bit old, and the vent holes have worn a bit, not sure how old it is, but must be 8 or so years old I guess.
The other may be my mouth is coming open occasionally, never thought of that one..
I did buy a brevida? Nasal pillow a couple of months ago, started off good, but in the end had trouble getting a good seal if I disturbed it during the night, might give it another go with the new S9..
the other thing, sleepyhead graph, don't know what that is? So can't post it..

8 years is a long time on a mask. I think mine wore out in under two years.
