Hiya folks, am a newbie here also with cpap.
A quick question, I was at the dentist this pm and they perforated my sinus by accident.
When I asked them as to how long I could not use my CPAP machine, they seemed not too sure,,,,
The dentist said just a few days,,,,I think it should be more than a few days no ?
Would love to have your feedback, if someone at this forum would have some medical knowledge,,,
Cheers,,
Dan B.

Why on earth are you not talking to your ENT doctor instead of some random people on the net? That needs to be looked at by a pro, not guessed at by us!
Re: Perforated Sinus and Cpap
I have never heard of that happening...and I wouldn't use the cpap until my ENT or sleep doctor (hopefully you have one or can see one soon) gave me the okay to use cpap.
We do have a couple of doctors who frequent the forum but not on a daily basis so I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on one of them.

I agree on the ENT visit. (Should be paid for by the dentist).

What type of CPAP mask do you use? While using CPAP, do you mouthbreathe, or does air leak between your lips?Dan B. wrote:When I asked them as to how long I could not use my CPAP machine, they seemed not too sure,,,,

I don't think it is necessary to see an ENT. Dentists are trained and experienced in handling sinus perforations. Maybe you could place a call to your sleep doctor.
Here are some general guidelines for a sinus puncture from tooth extraction.
Take prescriptions as directed.
Do not forcefully spit for several days.
Do not smoke for at least 7 days.
Do not use a straw for several days.
Do not forcefully blow your nose for at least 2 weeks, even though your sinus may feel “stuffy” or there may be some nasal drainage.
If you must sneeze, keep your mouth open and don’t try to hold it in.
Do not vigorously rinse for several days. Gentle salt water rinses may be used.
You may use a nasal decongestant such as pseudofed or a nasal spray such as afrin to help avoid blowing your nose.
Slight bleeding from the nose is not uncommon for several days after surgery.
