Different mask result different pressure and AHI?

Post by mibbim » Fri Jun 23, 2017 7:44 am

Hi, I have a ResMed aircurve auto. When I use the air fit nasal pillow p10 for her. When I wake up frequently at night, the pressure always stay with in 9.5 pressure range. I switched to f & p brevida last night, the pressure became higher, I saw 9.6, and even reach to 10.2. That's the first time I saw it goes beyond the 9.5 cm. I like Brevida better than the p10 since it's really soft and quiet, feel less destruction on my face, the nasal tip is not hurting like nose like the p10 does. But I am not sure why the maximum pressure that I need got changed to 10.2 instead of regularly all I need is 9.5? Any explanations for this? Thanks!

What do you mean,"the maximum pressure got changed?" Pressures will vary during the night...that's what an auto does. Are you watching this on Sleepyhead or just looking at the machine when you wake up?

First of all, you didn't say what your AHI was before and after. Second of all, to establish a pattern you would need to spend several nights with each and show consistency. A single night can be due to a cold, an allergen, the weather, what you ate, or a host of other variables.

If the pressure goes higher - and it's not bothering you - I would ignore it and look only at the AHI.

I see differences between my two masks. My P10 runs a bit higher than my Eson 2. It's normal.

I have checked from the sleepyhead software that my pressure never gone beyond 9.5 for last 4 months. I also see the pressure indicates on the monitor every time I wake up during the night, it never gone beyond 9.5 either. So 10.2 is new for me. I will keep watching it for a while to see what happens. My doctor set my pressure from 4 to 15. But normally the maximum pressure from the report is within 9.5. So I would like to keep it low if it's possible, since high pressure makes me wake up more often during the night. It seems when I wake up a couple of times at night, the pressure is already reaching to 9.4. I asked my doctor if the pressure causing wake up frequently, he said NO.
