Cpaps on TV

Post by sharonokc » Thu Feb 24, 2005 11:42 am

In and episode of Design Cents (HGTV) the other day the designers actually designed for a man with a cpap. They put it into a nightstand and cut a hold for the electric cord in the back panel. I presume the cpap was used with the front doors open. This is a trivial observation but I was just amazed to actually see a cpap on tv.

Air Intake

That's pretty cool!

I sure hope they included plenty of ventilation for the xPAP machine's air intake.

We started looking for new bedroom furniture before we found out we both have SOSA. Now that we both have these big ol' Remstar Pro2's with CFlex and Humidification on either side of the bed, I am SOOOOOOOOOO glad we hadn't bought furniture yet. Now I have decided that we need to find nightstands with large enough drawers to accommodate all this outerspace gear so that in the a.m. the room doesn't look like a hospital. And I'm not even a DESIGNER ! Intend to cut out the whole back of the drawer so that there will be plenty of ventilation and space for cords out the back even though during the night the drawers (or doors?) will be open so that you can see the control buttons. Also the machines will be in the BOTTOM drawer so that any condensation will drain DOWN instead of into the mask. Not getting rainout now though with the hose cozies....
Have a great day - I'm off for a hike in the woods with my Aussies!

I saw that episode several months ago myself. It was kind of interesting to see a CPAP on TV.

Back in 2000 or 2001 sometime, I'm prettty sure there was one episode of the Sopranos where an older guy was using a CPAP in the episode. I don't normally watch the show but someone alerted me. It was just there for a few minutes, but it was an actual use.

And ABC News did a program about a year ago on sleep problems and actually showed a young girl of about 12 who was using a CPAP for apnea, and another person who had a sleep study as part of a family sleep makeover was going to be getting a CPAP soon.

Anyone see the show HOUSE, on the the FOX Channel?

http://www.fox.com/house/

We received a call from thier prop manager asking if he could buy some cpaps. We of course said no at first(no rx), but we found him some non-repairable cpaps. He bought a couple empty(no blower or PCA board), non-working cpaps and some masks and hoses. I don't know specifics but sounds like some one will be sporting a Remstar type (body style) cpap.
