Cleaning the Airsense 10

Post by gregnga » Mon Jun 12, 2017 1:33 pm

I had always heard the best product to use for cleaning CPAP components is "no more tears" baby shampoo. That is what I have used for years on my Remstar C-flex machine. Now that I have an AIrsense 10, I was reading in the users guide that they recommend detergents Alconox or Neodisher MediZym (never heard of either of them). My respiratory therapist told me when she gave me my machine that she uses dish washing soap like Palmolive or Dawn on hers (she has a Resperonics Dream Machine). I've always been told dish washing soap are no-no's. Has anything changed, I just ran out of "no more tears".

Basically, it doesn't need much cleaning, what's wrong with doing what you have been doing, you are still alive.

I don't clean mine, I'm still alive too, but I like Dawn, 10,000 Ducks can't be wrong, they are so Cute, and Tasty. Jim

Nothing wrong with what I have been doing, I just ran out of "no more tears" and thought I'd check to see if anything has changed or if a better product has come out. Last bottle of NMT lasted about 5 years.

If you like tear-free baby shampoo, keep using it.
Some have mentioned Dr Bronners, if you want something a bit "above and beyond", but good old J&J will do.
Less is usually best. Excessive cleaning can wear parts out more quickly.

This is why we should avoid over cleaning our gear.....

Cats are awesome. Not only do they contribute generously to the indoor biome,
but due to the natural deodorant in their saliva, we haven't a clue.

that's when sanitizing a machine between different users.

I've used dawn for the last eight years.... 's not like the cpap has delicate hair and eyes that need delicate soap.
