I use the dreamstation CPAP at 17 cwp. I just started in February. I was getting a 100% mask fit on the app. 3 months in I started having more leaking and fit was in the 70%. The leaking air is hard to sleep through making whistling noise. I just changed the mask cushion. But, am still experiencing leaks and decreased mask fit on the app. Is there something I should be doing to help prevent the leaking?
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Re: Mask fit
Have you gained even a little weight - it always shows up first in your face - or have you begun taking new meds at night, begun using face lotion before bed?

Here are some tips.Jah2 wrote:Is there something I should be doing to help prevent the leaking?
To reduce unintentional mask leak -
- Make sure the mask is fitted properly. (See mask manufacturer's video.)
- Make sure the headgear is adjusted properly (See mask manufacturer's video.)
- If you use a low ramp pressure or a low minimum pressure, you should fit and adjust your mask at the higher pressures it is operating at for most of the night. You would temporarily change the machine pressure settings while you do the fitting and adjusting. It's best to do this well before bedtime before you are tired and ready for sleep. Don't forget to change your settings back to the ones you prefer.
- Make sure to use good hose management - the hose should not pull on the mask. Notice how your hose is positioned between machine and mask. It should be positioned to minimize any pull on the mask. Hose management is an individual practice. How it is done depends on the mask, the position of the machine, your sleeping position and other factors specific to the individual.
- If you still have problems, learn from the forum what mask liners are available.
- If your mask still has excessive leak, try other masks. Many people report trying several masks before they find one that works well for them.

Re: Mask fit
I use the Quattro air full mask and headgear. I haven't had changes in weight. I have loosened then tightened the headgear hoping that may help. It's perfect when I go to sleep. 4 hours in it will start whistling and leaking. It's as if it warms up from wearing has the effect.
Thanks for your help

Re: Mask fit
It's common for your face muscles to relax during the night. Be sure that the mask cushion is free of facial oils. Clean with a moistened baby wipe before bed. If you have the mask too tight, it cannot inflate with air and float on your face.

Re: Mask fit
The head gear will stretch over time and need to be adjusted. The head gear can be washed in very hot water which will often return it to the original size.
