Since I found this list while poking around inside the Encore Pro database I thought I might share it with everyone. It appears to be a complete? list of Respironics xPAPs or at least the ones usable with Encore Pro I would assume.

Complete list of Respironics xPAPS
as long as you're poking around...
I am a linux user. Obviously the software we've come to know and love does not run in linux. I can get the card reader to work in linux but without knowing the format of the data on the card it's kind of tough to try and devise a way to read it. I'd like to try to pull the data from the card into a linux app. This would be STRICTLY a read-only application. You wouldn't be able to write to the card, but if I could at least get the data from the card I could create the charts and graphs and stuff.
Any clue as to where I should start?

When you say 'work' what exactly does that mean. What are you able to do with it?yardbird wrote:I can get the card reader to work in linux
Well first you need some type of API to be able to read the data from the card. I don't know about Linux but Microsoft has a standard SmartCard API. Resperonics however has chosen not to go with a standard driver. Someone mentioned this might be due to encryption of the data that the driver decrypts? If this is true you might be out of luck (not having the decryption key)yardbird wrote:Any clue as to where I should start?
I'd start by just trying to figure out how to dump the raw data from the card. Once you can do that then you need to determine how to pull the numbers from that data, ie its format (which is liable to just be a big binary blob)
Its likely a lot of work. I considered it early on as a way of bypassing Encore Pro all together but decided it was way to much work.
Let me know if you have any luck.
By getting the card reader to work I meant that there is actually a driver for the infineer card reader. I can plug it in and linux recognizes the card reader. I'm not sure how to go about trying to read it though.
If it's a big binary blob, then I'll be pretty much out of luck. I just don't have the time to devote to decoding. If it comes off as raw data, I MIGHT be able to find correlations between that raw data and the information in Encore Pro's display OF that same data. You know... like finding keys.
Having teh data on that card in an easily readable format would mean patients could view their data without being able to change anything on the machine. I mean...that's one of the reasons they don't want us as patients to have Encore Pro....because it contains the means to change the prescription and therein lies a huge liability to the manufacturer. If all we could do is READ it... well... this just makes too much sense. I'm sure someone has screwed this up

Internally Encore Pro doesn't store the data in anything even remotely similar to what it displays. Everything is recorded as sessions and event lists etc. Programs like MyEncore and EPA have to 'massage' that data to make it useful for the user.yardbird wrote: If it comes off as raw data, I MIGHT be able to find correlations between that raw data and the information in Encore Pro's display OF that same data.
While that argument might be true I don't think thats the reason that its probably in a binary or compressed format. From a purely technical standpoint SmartsCards don't have that much room for storage, there would be no room for text data or the like...yardbird wrote: Having the data on that card in an easily readable format would mean patients could view their data without being able to change anything on the machine. ... ok... well I found a PC/SC API for linux that mimics the Microsoft PC/SC API. Maybe that will help make sense of things. (maybe not! )

Re: Complete list of Respironics xPAPS
Cool list. The only thing I'd mention about the list is that not all the machines on it record any kind of AHI info, even if they have a Smart Card that can be downloaded to Encore Pro. Most of those machines keep track only of hours of use ("compliance") and put only that onto the Smart Card.jskinner wrote:or at least the ones usable with Encore Pro I would assume.
Just wouldn't want someone to see their machine's name and go spend the money for Encore Pro only to find out that the Smart Card for their machine told them only how many hours they'd used it.
