waking up

Post by rotoplooker » Mon Nov 27, 2006 12:38 pm

Hey guys,

Well I've tried almost every mask under the sun now and as you might know I have had problems waking up and taking my mask off. I am starting to think that the problem is in the waking up and not the desire to take the mask off. My hybrid is a super fit and comfortable and I even have some tiger padacheeks on it making it light years ahead of the million masks and interfaces I have tried.

So, this is my question...why the hell am I waking up after about 1.2 hours on average and relentlessly? Sometimes (but not always) it feels panic like?

Any thoughts would be welcomed.

I've been on the hose for well over a year now so I don't get it!!!

my guess:
waking up in a recovery panic, there can be 2 causes, one your pressure is not high enough to fully stent your airway open.... or

your pressure is too high and machine is triggering a central. a central would bring you back to a fully awake state, since you were not breathing it would also cause you to breathe in a panic state.

I would refer back to your PSG, if no CA or MA's were seen then I would go with my first guess and increase the pressure by 1cm and give her a another try.

great idea - I agree as I just had surgery and had not been able to use cpap for over a week and I have been waking up, due to apnea events, panicky, sweating and heart rate way up - forgot what that felt like since am very religious about using the cpap - finally able to use it again, thankfully
sounds similar to what you are describing when you are waking up - maybe not but could be - good luck
