Which water to use with your humidifier?

That's my point. The "stuff" is left in the humidifier and accumulates in the container as the water evaporates (so you clean it on a regular basis). Isn't a CPAP humidifier doing basically the same thing as a distiller? Isn't the moisture that leaves the humidifier "pure?" The only difference is it doesn't condense and form back into water (unless of course you're dealing with rain out.

^ Seems odd that your RO filter had bacterial slime on it if your city water is laced with chlorine. Does the charcoal really remove all traces of chlorine? We're on a well and thankfully, we're fortunate enough to have very good water. It's a little heavy on the iron, but the filters take care of that.

But, getting back to my point. If your confident enough to drink RO water (or any other water for that matter) why the concern for putting it in your humidifier?

I use distilled water when I remember to buy it, water run through a PUR filter when I forget. I usually have to clean my humidifier chamber about once every 3 or 4 months with a vinegar/hot water solution. Not a big deal. When I travel, I stop by a chain drug store and get a gallon of distilled water that I use for the 3 or 4 days I'm gone.
