Keep Data on Remstar Smart Cards

Post by Mikesus » Tue Feb 22, 2005 6:44 pm

To retain data on your smart card (instead of it deleting everytime you download)

You will need to modify the registry. To modify the registry you can use regedit from the start>run command line.

**WARNING** Modifying your registry can be dangerous and can render your computer inoperable!! (Liam said it made him sterile, but I think he was exagerating)

Under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>RESPIRONICS>ENCORE PRO

you should see a key RetainDeviceData. It is currently set for 0. Change it to 1. Then exit. Restart Encore Pro and you should now be asked if you want to delete the data on the card.

Yes. I don't have any data on my card tho, but it did ask if I wanted to erase data!

So I would say it works!!

Did you miss the part last week where I mentioned my wife is pregnant?

Liam, it's too early in the marriage for him to be sterile while his wife is pregnant.

Guys - that Registry Key ain't on my machine. What gives? The Respironics folder just contains a folder "Encore Pro", which contains a folder "Facility"with a few demographic type Keys.. Maybe create the key?

BTW - I want to repeat the warning that mucking with the Registry can be very dangerous to the health of your computer. Been there, done that. Not for the faint of heart

My question is this. My card will hold about 3 weeks of data. I download it daily to my comp. When its full, i delete the info on card and start over. I retain all the info on my comp. Is this what you are doing? I ordered an external hard drive where i will eventually transfer my data for safe storage in case my reg comp crashes. I m using the encore software. I also think there is only one page thats really essential: the one with the graphs of leakage, apnea events etc.

loonlvr,
Do I understand that you are currently able to download without erasing the card? Do you have the latest version of Encore Pro?

You know - I wonder about the usefulness of storing every single night of therapy data. I ask myself why I would ever want to go back and look at data from several months ago. I think Encore is incredibly useful to help understand our condition, and our treatment, but I think that in a few months from now it will be a quick check once a week or so to make sure things are stable.

Mikey (my apap twin),
You are correct. I thought I had looked in the Encore Pro folder and found it to be empty. Duh...

With that quick check once a week, you will have every day. The card stores 7-9 days of data...

21 days of detailed data? That is good to know...
