I picked up my stuff from Apria last week. The "therapist" set up my auto cpap without enabling C-flex, but that was nothing compared to what she did to the mask (Resmed Ultra Mirage II). She apparently removed the plastic cover that snaps over the vent slots and dicarded it, resulting in loud, high volume of air pouring out of the mask. This did not seem to bother her as she fitted the mask and started the machine, and I didn't realize that this was a major problem, since I had not done the titration study (which is why I requested the auto cpap). Five days later, I knew something was wrong and looked at the manual, which had a picture on the cover with a plastic hood over the vent slots. I went back to see this obviously incompetent person, and got the plastic cover....Where did she get it? From a box on the floor from the mask she had just delivered to a guy just before I came in to see her! She said that I could have it, and that the slots needed to be uncovered. After I showed her the manual, She "apologized". Meanwhile the poor guy who came in before me has no idea that his mask is not working properly. Do you think she called him or all the other people she has probably done this to? I doubt it. I have a call in to the manager. The lesson I keep learning is that you better know what's going on when it comes to medical treatment, because there are many incompetent people in the health care industry who also don't care who they hurt.

She probably learned from the same place as the RT I went to who gave me the UMFF mask without the cushion clip because I didn't need it. She couldn't find it or didn't bother to look for it.
Caveat emptor indeed.

you should write a letter to your insurance and send a copy to the Apria Regional manager.
....wait they already know they are totally incompetent, that won't accomplish anything.
You should first call your insurance and ask what providers they list as in-network.... No that will only discourage you even further

Apria grrr
Did your PCP send you to Apria or a Sleep Specialist? Find out who else in your area accepts your insurance and see what it would take to re-route your supplies to a different home care provider!! The only people sent to Apria are from physicians that dont know any better or insurance carriers who only Apria are contracted with.....they are infamous for this kind of stuff. I cant believe they even delievered it to your house-score one for you!! (Although they probably billed you for that one )
