REMStar Internal Clock

Post by felineperson3 » Thu Nov 16, 2006 9:42 am

ImageAnyone????
Is there any way to set the internal clock on the RemStar Auto machine?
I find it annoying when I do my Encore download and the compliance times shown always vary approx. 40 minutes from the actual time. Image for any help!!!!

There were posts on this recently. I think they stated that internal clock resets have to be done by Respironics/DME. Not sure which, but either way the machine has to be brought in from what I remember.

Hi Carley,

Yep! It has to be sent back to Respironics to be re-set. This is one of my biggest gripes with these machines.....they all lose time eventually.

Best wishes,

Image for the info. I had contemplated that it wasn't probably a self-fix solution. Since I don't have a back-up machine I'll just contend with the annoyance for now.
Wishing restful sleep to all and a Happy Thanksgiving!! Image

Oops. Now this is something I should have checked about.

While I knew about the internal battery issues, I forgot to ask about the GMT. Being a foreign buyer, if my new "tank" is set for US time, I'm going to be a whole day and several hours out of sync.

This could be really annoying

I don't believe I can take it to anywhere in my country for resetting. In my research I could only find one RemStar Service DME, and they have already threatened me that they would not touch me, or my BiPAP, with a ten foot barge pole, if I dared to buy from overseas.

Not only were their quotes nearly double the cpap.com prices , they also have yet to even import the Auto BiPaP (the tank or "M" series) and offered to sell me a used 2nd hand Pro 1 series Remstar BiPAP for $4,000

I can only hope cpap.com had the foresight to set my machine to GMT +10 as they know the timezone they are shipping too. My fault for not being smart enough to ask!! ( cue panic mode )

Now I'm worried. Will this screw up my Encore data? I'll be needing to show trend data to a cardiologist and sleep research specialist after christmas.

Can Encore be adjusted for time lags?

Not to worry, offlineon.......Respironics sets the internal clocks on the machines to GMT. Then when you download the data, the time zone and time setting in your computer converts it to your local time for your reports.
For whatever reason......weak or drained batteries or calibration causes the REMstars to lose a little time over a period of months.....not significant, but kind of a PITA at some point. This is Carley's issue.

Best wishes,

Cheers for that Wulfman!

...I'll sleep better knowing that (pun intended) ha ha! My DME would not give me the manuals for my leased machine or info about Encore, except for the basic sleep results. They employ the 'ole Mushroom Principle. I understand some US DME suppliers are the same too.

Of course! WHY would they want YOU to know anything about YOUR therapy???

Besides, it's none of your business.

I have one Bipap Pro 2 (a very inexpensive aquisition) that for some reason had reverted its time to 1988. This is the date that shows up in datacards used in it. It has been progressing happily on that time.

I took it to the local Remstar Agent (Mayo Healthcare) & paid them $50 to look at it. They returned the unit saying that to fix the clock would require a new motherboard at a cost of $US 1000.

I decided not to proceed

has anyone sent a prescription to the machine just to see if the date/time was being sent at the same time.

That won't have any effect on the time in the machine.

It takes special software and card that has a cable that connects it to a computer port. The software also does testing and calibrations.

So, since this isn't something that can be changed by the user, and since the machines accommodate Daylight Savings Time automatically, there could be some problems when the dates for Daylight Savings Time change next year. From 1986 to 2006 DST has been the first Sunday in April to the last Sunday in October, but starting in 2007, it will be observed from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November. Looks like we will all have to take our machines to a brick and mortar DME, or have the timing off for several weeks.

As per my second post in this thread......it's done by the computer time / time zone......not in the XPAP itself.
I've been wondering what the computers are going to do. Win XP gets/verifies time with some Internet sources.....if the computer is online.
