Exactly.
... and another thing---the DME is charging the insurance company at least twice as much as what you could buy it for, from cpap.com.
So I'm sure this greatly offsets all those "losses" of theirs.
I guess we need not shed too many tears for the poor lil' old DME.

To say that an insurance company is paying twice as much as an online provider isn't completely accurate. It's fairly rare that they will pay twice as much.
Further - it's not "the DME charging", it's the insurance company who sets the payment rate, NOT US.
Even further - I can absolutely assure you that the difference is almost entirely eaten up just in the sheer cost of doing business with the insurance company. The 6 month to a year payment delays, the regular denial of claims just to avoid payment, the huge documentation requirements, etc etc. I would invite anyone who has serious concerns about the business practices of a DME company to see if yours would allow you to come be an observer for a day, or better yet a week. See just what it's like.
Even further further (If that makes sense ) remember that most of us would L-O-V-E to charge a cash customer the same prices that an online provider charges - but we aren't allowed. Name me one other business where someone ELSE sets the price you will get paid for your product/service AND also prohibits you from selling to anyone at a lower price than that.
Anyways, I really don't want to sidetrack this thread into yet another argument over the value of a traditional provider vs an online company.
If anyone wishes to further go into it please feel free to PM me so we can keep this thread of value to the folks who started it!
