Thanks everyone!!!

Last night for the first time in years I didn't wake up at 5am gasping for air!
I set my auto for min 12 and max at 20. This morning checked and it hit 15.5 last night but I slept right threw it. I've been using my comfort gel nose mask and taping my mouth. So I would cut down on leaks and see exactly what pressures I was needing? Only problem I am no having is my face is breaking out from the mask. So figured will try my UFF mask tonight. Reason didn't use before was I was showing over 52L/min7 day average every morning. With nose mask its now 38.1L/Min 7 day average. So will that also mean my pressures will go up using the full face mask?
Also using the nose mask, chin strap and tape my AH1 went from 2 - 3.? to 1.0. I know that 3 something isn't a lot but than again I kept ripping my mask off every night. I feel awesome today. Now I know what everyone has been saying about how much better they feel in morning. I am looking forward to tomorrow morning for once in my life!!!! I'm so happy today.

I seem to remember there was a chart showing normal leak rates for different masks.

While I am not an expert. I do believe that the leak rate varries form mask to mask and is also based on pressure.

Maybe if my response will bump this up and someone more knowledgable will post that link again and explain it to you.

What that means is that that is the mask's leak rate at a perssure of 17 - if you used the mask at 17, and had abolutely no leaks, that is the leak rate you would achieve, The chart does not say anything about the pressure you need .

Since you feel so good right now, why not leave it like that for a while?

I know but DME said that with my pressure at 12 that 52L/min was good!

But the link for leak rates for each mask said I was showing a leak rate that was normal for a pressure of 17.

As long as you're not having large leaks, you're doing fine with the UMFF. Assuming you're pressure is averaging 14 (higher than the minimum of your APAP range), your mask would have an intentional leak rate of 44. So, at 52, you're only 8 over the intentional leak rate. Your APAP compensates for 8 difference (or the 10 difference if your average is 12) and the additional leaks won't adversely affect your therapy (assuming no large leaks and mouth leaks when you're using a nasal mask).

So, what I'm trying to say is simply enjoy the results you're getting and don't get hung over leaks that are at reasonable levels.

Great job IB! I wouldn't worry too much about the leak rate. Even though the APAP you are using is "state of art", it is not perfect. Therefore, if you are within 25% of the masks listed passive exhalation port flow ("leak rate or washout"), don't worry about it. Remember, your machine works well with the higher leak rate masks, like the Hybrid and the UMFF.

+ Aussie heated hose.
