new term for Newbie

Once again 4 AM finds me wishing I could go back to sleep. I look for ways to entertain myself as I wait for the sleep train to come back to my station. I know – think of a new term for Newbie!

The recent elections bring to mind the term Freshman, as in a new senator. How about a freshman hoser? Naw, probably would cause problems if it needed to be more gender specific, and who would want to be called a Freshwoman? Probably wouldn’t want to graduate to senior hoser, either.

How about a sports term? How about Rookie? Rookie hosehead. That is not too bad. What does a more experienced rookie become? A veteran? A Veteran hosehead? Not so much.

Then, there are the martial arts that designate achievement by the color of the belt worn. Hmm. I have a white hose in CPAP. I have a green hose in CPAP. I have a black hose in CPAP. Not so sure about that one. A black hose sounds like it needs to be replaced not respected.

Military? Airman. How about an Airhose first class? Airhead first class? Airedhead first class? Not too promising.

There is a nice term for children used in parts of the US, “young’un” for a young one. How about “hose’un”? A young or new hose one.

Cowboys call a new cowboy a greenhorn. How about a Green-hose’un? You could eventually become (forgive me, rustynail) a Leader-hose’un.

When you are new, you are starting. Starterhoseing, Beginnerhoseing, Novicehoseing.

I certainly do wish you would go back to sleep dear, but only because I am wishing you well.... Since you were up, I sure am glad that you spent your time thinking of the rest of us hoseheads and sharing your marvelous humor with us!
