This BlueTooth stuff is really cool! If you are about to die, just
have your phone call you and wake you up.

There are a few catches here. The main one is cost. I have a finger pulse oximeter w/o the "smart" capabilities, just to check my 02 sats and HR during exericise, etc. It is one of the better brands of finger oximeters and it runs about $250-$350 online. Most insurances will NOT pay for a pulse oximeter even w/a script. So most likley you would have to buy this unit out of pocket and most likely it is going to cost considerably more than this oximeter of mine because of the "smart" capabilities.

By the way, I like your sense of humor, Meister!

FYI, I just got a Nonin 9550 finger-tip pulse/ox that I use for exercise purposes, that MY INSURANCE PAID FOR! Now, they DID initially deny the claim, but I appealed to the carrier's medical review committee and WON.

Re: the blog describing using a smartphone with bluetooth to monitor your sleep Sp02, I'd expect nothing less from a country (Finland) that permits you to buy Cokes from a vending machine using your cell-phone. Ain't it just a GRAND world that we live in???

Hey, Chuck, Finland is also the home of the Nokia company. No wonder they are into technology.

NO, Nokia phones ARE NOT JAPANESE!

Chuck, do you have a pilot's license or COPD? Ha! I've got a lot to learn from you. I never thought to fight the insurance company's refusal to pay for my Nonin Onyx. GOOD oximeter, isn't it? I bought mine before the newer model came out.

Onyx II

Post by GoofyUT » Mon Nov 06, 2006 11:11 am

Yup, I love my Onyx II! think its basically the same as the Onyx I used before while in cardiac rehab, but maybe with slightly better power management features. No other differences thyat i cans ee, BTW.

I SO enjoy having it during my workouts! I've maxed aout the treadmill at my gym, and check my sats from time to time in each workout to make sure that I'm staying fully aerobic. And, its helping me progress in my work-out so!

Cheers!
