Hi everyone,
Does the M-Series Humidifiers work when the unit is operated on DC power 12 volt Car/battery adapter?
I found out the Remstar humidifiers don't! Wish I new before I camped!
Thanks in advance!
M Series Humidifier? work on DC Power
No experience. Just got my M series Auto Bipap. But my HH manual says the Respironics DC power Cord can be used to operate the therapy device and humidifier in a stationary recreational vehicle......When the DC Power Cord is used, the humidifier will not heat up unless it is also plugged into an inverter.....Refer to the instructions supplied with the DC power cord and adapter cable for information on how to operate the therapy device and humidifier using DC power.

Hambone,
They can work off an inverter connected to a dc power source.
Inverters are devices that take say 12VDC and using electronics, can output s simulated AC at 115V. I say simulated in that at its worst the alternating output is a square wave rather than a sine wave & that actually can damage some types of CPAPs power supplies.
The Remstars have (iirc) always been tolerant of square-wave inverters but I know that Resmed machines require pure sine-wave inverters (which tend to be a bit more expensive).
Try Tandy - ask them what types of inverters they have in stock.
Good luck

xPAP and Quattro std mask (plus a pad-a-cheek anti-leak strap)
Yer Funny Snoredog!
Actually I already tried the hand warmers but they went out when I put them in the humidifier and then filled it with water?
Actually I was thinking of buying an M Series Auto and was looking for a reason to justify the cost over a Remstar Auto but it seems that there's really no reason to go that way, as an inverter would probably power my current remstar Pro so....
Thanks for the replies.. much appreciated...

Just be careful if you're using an inverter connected to your car battery while camping. The heater in the humidifier uses a suprisingly large amount of power and your car may not start in the morning unless you have a SUV or truck with the auxillery battery option. You can use a deep cycle battery like the type used for trolling motors to power the inverter. But you will need several batteries connected together to have enough capacity to make it through the night. A non-heated humidfier in your sleeping bag may be the best option while camping.
