Back from a great vacation, but some strange numbers

Post by linda b » Mon Oct 30, 2006 8:33 pm

Hello, everybody. I haven’t posted in about six weeks (except for one a couple of days ago) because I’ve been traveling quite a bit looking at the beautiful fall color and visiting family. Also have had computer problems, but fixed them by getting a brand new laptop that I have fallen in love with.

Traveling with APAP and oxygen paraphernalia is bunches of fun – not! We started our trip in our truck/camper – not much space, but it gets into the smaller campgrounds which we usually frequent. We put the concentrator in the shower stall (which we never use because it is so small) and I put the APAP up on the bed with me next to my pillow. All went pretty well except for managing the length of the hose. Needless to say, EncorePro showed considerable vibratory snore noise!

We went to Roan Mountain State Park in upper East Tennessee, the first time we had ever been there. We were so impressed with the park and the area that we came home (to Knoxville) and swapped the truck/camper for our motorhome and went back for two weeks. We also towed our Jeep Wrangler for tooling around. And tooling around we did in plenty!!! We must have driven every paved and a few unpaved roads from Virginia south to North Carolina east of Interstate 81 along with a lot of roads in North Carolina. Absolutely gorgeous country. I can’ta believe we have lived here over 30 years and this was our first time into that part of the state.

We then went back home, swapped back to the truck/camper and drove up the Blue Ridge Parkway and on into Maryland for one of our grandson’s birthday. We came home the same way and the parkway was ablaze with colors.

The APAP and concentrator were much easier to handle in the motorhome where we have so much more space. We try to stay in campgrounds which have electricity, but sometimes have to use a Honda 2000 quiet generator to accommodate both the concentrator and APAP. We have looked into additional batteries to use with the camper, but they are so heavy and weight is real issue.

Now for my question. Since we’ve been home, EncorePro is reporting some really strange sleeping hours – not the number of hours, but the start and stop times. For two nights it said I went to bed at 8:03 and 8:39, respectively. I haven’t been to bed that early since I was a baby!! Another couple of nights it said I went to bed about 10:30PM when it was actually more like 1:30AM (I’m a horrible nightowl!) Then it started giving me more or less the correct times, but on one occasion the charts used a 12 hour graph instead of the usual graph for the actual sleep hours (8 hours or so). I haven’t downloaded the card since going off daylight savings time, so it remains to be seen what time the APAP machine thinks it is now! All this got me to wondering, how does the machine know what time it is in the first place? And if it has an internal clock, does it run on batteries that need to be changed from time to time (especially if the machine is left unplugged for lengthy periods of time as is when we use the truck/camper)? I looked in the patient manual and the clinician’s manual copy and could find nothing about setting or resetting an internal clock. Maybe some of you more technically inclined folks have some ideas?

It’s good to be back and to catch up on what’s been going on on the forum now that my new computer is up and running. I really missed all of you!!

Internal Clock

Post by felineperson3 » Tue Nov 28, 2006 10:12 am

Linda, I posed the same question if you would like to refer back to my posting on the forum for follow-up on this. The internal clock on my RemStar is approx. 48 minutes behind now according to my Encore readouts and this was my question:

Anyone????
Is there any way to set the internal clock on the RemStar Auto machine?
I find it annoying when I do my Encore download and the compliance times shown always vary approx. 40 minutes from the actual time. for any help!!!!
The answer I received:

There were posts on this recently. I think they stated that internal clock resets have to be done by Respironics/DME. Not sure which, but either way the machine has to be brought in from what I remember.

I hope this helps.
