Everest/Aura vs GoodKnight 420G

Post by rgelston » Sun Oct 29, 2006 9:47 pm

I need to replace my GoodKnight 420G and humidifier with a fully battery operated cpap and humidifier. While the 420G is a great machine in general and for traveling in particular, I must have heated humidification and the 420G humidifier only runs on 110/220. So I can't be free of wall power with it.

The battery powered BreathX looked at first like a possibility, but it doesn't have an integrated battery powered humidifier, so same problem as the 4290G.

The Everest/Aura has both battery powered cpap and humidifier. It is supposed to be quiet (31 decibels) but I wonder if that's quieter than the 420G? The 420G is a little louder than my F&P HC220LE. Anyone have sound output specs for the different machines?

Whatever machine I get, I want to be able to charge from a solar and/or marine battery setup, and the Everest/Aura can do that. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone with experience in this area.

rgelston, I have an Invacare Polaris TR .... that's the new name for the Aeiomed "Everest" (previously "Aura") CPAP machine with battery option.

I like it very much. I use it primarily for nights when there are thunderstorms rolling in. I found it to be very quiet in operation. I use 10 cm pressure when I'm using a straight cpap machine.

Thanks for the reply!

Do you use the humidifier? If do, on battery too?

Have you any info on charging from a solar array?

I don't use the humidifier when using the battery.

Sorry, I don't know anything about solar panels.

Electrical heating, how all cpap humidifiers i know of work, requires a good deal of power. i doubt that you will find any effective battery-powered solution.
