Where can I get?

Post by cpapjack » Tue Oct 24, 2006 11:03 am

Does anyone know where I can buy tape in bulk? I'm sick of buying a single roll every week and half.

The head Pharmacist at my local CVS sold me a package of 2" tape at the jobber rate of dollar and change per roll (seems like it was 1.12 a roll) I don't remember how many was in the package. It is not out on the shelves you have to ask for it from the Pharmacist and he will also mark it tax free so when you go to pay they don't charge tax on it. I don't tape anymore but this is how I use to buy it.

Is buckeyered the only other person who tapes or in his case, taped?

Check with your DME company. I've seen boxes of tape for sale in the showroom at mine where they had all the medical supplies.

I get a 12yrd roll at my local Longs Drug, that is 36feet of tape! It lasts me a couple years, think the adhesive dries out before I can use it.

You must be following RG's method of taping, five wraps completely around the head

Ha, it's funny you should say that about RG's method. I don't use quite that much, but I do go through a 10yd. roll in about 1 1/2 weeks. For whatever reason, I have to tape from one side of my jaw to the other and then use my chin strap to keep the tape in place. The tape doesn't want to stick when I first put it on. But when I wake up, it's sticking pretty good. Until I can get a FF mask, this is what I have to do. It's the only thing that works. I must say, since I got the XL pillows for my Breeze, I've had a 0 leak rate almost every night.

You may want to try coating your skin where the tape goes with milk of magnesia. It helps with the adhesion AND with the opportunity to get less irritation of the skin.

Of course, face washing with a gentle dish detergent where the tape will stick helps, too.

I have also found that taping vertically with one or two pieces works well, too.

BTW, the 'wrap around the head' technique was originally Offerocker's. That duct-taped duck must have stock in the industry.

I do wash my face evry night and also use an astringent. I actually have to extend the tape past the sides of my mouth because of my goatee.

Sorry, I did not mean to suggest that you did NOT wash the face! I just thought that the moisturizing soaps (i.e., Dove, Caress) might be hindering the sticking power of your adhesive tape. Some of the dishwashing liquid detergents come in a 'hand washing' or 'gentle on hands' form that works well for washing the tape adhesive contact area.

Being beardless I don't get the whole "how to tape without ripping out the goattee" routine, but the pain MAY or MAY NOT be equal to waxing--which I do understand.

BTW, how does one tape without ripping out the facial hair that is right where I would tape?

Also, have you checked eBay for tape suppliers (in bulk)? It seems that I saw some there when first researching paper tape.

K1125 Tenderskin Hypoallergenic Paper Tape - 2" X 10yards Easy Tear, 6 Units / 1 box = $10.14

Shipping: $6.64

I couldn't find 2" wide paper tape at any of the local Drug stores so I ordered it on line. I believe if your order is over a certain amount the shipping was free. I received my order in a couple of days.

No apology needed birdshell. Actually, I don't even use a moisturizing soap, just the astringent. It's really weird. When I first started taping, the tape stuck great. Then I stopped for awhile and it's when I started up again that it wouldn't stick initially without using the chinstrap. That works fine, so I'm content doing that. I did end up finding a few sites that sell tape in bulk, so I will have to look at them again and see what's the best deal. Thanks for the reply and suggestions.

Thanks Crelison. That sounds like a better deal than the sites I came across.
