Effects of to much pressure post.

Post by ready2sleep » Sat Oct 21, 2006 3:56 pm

I asked a while ago, about to much pressure. I tried to read the thread but it shows "no posts for this thread," after page 2. My question is this. When I was prescribed at 8, couldnt do it, I moved it up, I felt like I was suffocating. I am at 10 with a full face mask. Just got the mirage, and 10 seems way to strong so i dropped it down to 9. I have been titrated at 8, even though I told the dr. that 8 made me feel like I could breath, they told me to leave it there. Are there any problems with raising it 1 or 2 pressure points?

Are you using software to monitor your therapy?
What do your numbers look like?
If they're still looking good, I would think you can justify moving them around to whatever works for you.

Did your AHI improve (or change much) when you moved it up to 10 and then to 9 (from where it had been at 8.)?

Since "normal" is considered to be less than 5.0, you're in a respectable range at 3.2.

You might find that it may drop even further or as you become used to the pressure, you might be able to increase it a bit (as you become used to it) to see if that helps even further. It's my opinion that this therapy is not an exact science because your physical conditions can change and thus affect the numbers and your needs for more or less pressure. Also, doctors don't always get the titrations right. If your numbers are looking good and you're feeling better.....that's what counts.

Best wishes,

Well, a good portion of the "feeling better" is relative and can take some time.
Keep an eye on your AHI and if you can keep it at or below where it is now, the recovery may follow.

New replies to the thread you mentioned are still happening. Just click page 2. The "no posts for this thread" message is a glitch. It's true there are no page 3 or 4 posts (yet), but people can still keep posting replies if they go to page 2:

Eventually, if more posts keep a'comin', it will start a page 3.
