CPAP 1 Month

Post by captainvette » Mon Oct 16, 2006 12:11 pm

I have been using CPAP for month now...

30 day AHI ave = 2.1
30 day leak ave = 45.5
30 day nightly hours ave = 5.49

My 7 day ave is

AHI = 1.3
Leak = 45.5
Nightly hours = 6.95

I am not feeling any better yet but I am not as sleepy during the day now and my wife says she can finnaly sleep in the same room as me all night

I am using a Remstar M Series Pro C-Flex w/ Resmed Ultra Mirage full face mask

Its weired .. my preasure is set at 14 but when the C-Flex is set at #2 my AHI jumps up in the 7 day average to around 2.8 when I lower the C-Flex setting down to #1 my AHI ave goes back down to around 1.5

your numbers look very good, leaks could be a tad lower but not bad.

It can take some time (several months for me) for your body to fully recover from the past sleep deprivation. that goody goody feeling you may have gotten (not everyone has it) the first few days/weeks of therapy doesn't usually last.

What you might notice is the 2-3PM afternoon tiredness should subside. Some days you may even feel like you have relapsed prior to cpap. But if you stop cpap you then realize just how much an impact OSA has on you.

Cflex setting: Cflex is a great feature, sure allows easy breathing, but I have been playing with it lately on my M series auto since it is so easy to change, I also changed it from #2 setting to #1 setting and my snore index dropped nearly in half (either that or they made a major change to snore detection circuit with the M over the classic). You can see the snore details even on your Pro if you have the EncorePro software and reader.

I am wondering if when the C-Flex kicks in on higher settings (#2,#3) it dosent go back to max flow fast enough causing the increase in AHI when using C-Flex on #2 or #3 for me

you will feel like you are hyperventilating if the the wrong CFLEX setting is chosen.

Go here if you want to see how it works:
