Waterproof CPAP anyone!!???

Post by apneaicinisrael » Mon Oct 16, 2006 2:43 am

Here is an issue I am sure I have not seen on this great forum yet. This past weekend we were away on vacation and I had the incredible experience of a "WATSU" treatment. This is a form of water massage, you get into a theraputic pool with body temp water, with the WATSU provider. They float you on your back and use the resistance of the water with all kinds of gentle turns and different positions to stretch and massage your muscles. It is amazing! I found it a deep meditative experience, and I was so relaxed (and floating on my back) that I kept noticing that my throat was closing up. Of course, because I was awake, I didn't do any apneas, but I was pretty close! SO, I was left thinking, maybe if I do it again I should wear a dental device or something! I'd love to see a bright yellow rubber coated CPAP machine for use during WATSU treatment! Or in the jacuzzi, or...

Regards from me, AII, no longer on vacation....

Wow, what a concept! That does sound interesting, as the water would support the body and muscles would be more relaxed, allowing for better manipulation of them. I think I could fall asleep that way!

My ob/gyn has started a spa, which has massage and laser and manicures and makeovers, etc. (It is really his wife's business). They have a Vichy shower massage, but I have never tried it--this is the first I've ever heard of it. I might have to try it.

However, I'd have to check who would be the massage therapist. They hired one of my former students. I have had him give me a massage, but I don't think the shower one would be quite as appropriate....

Thank you and I will have to research this idea. Sorry you are no longer in the vacation mode. Although, if we did not have our normal routine then vacations would not be vacations, would they?

I love it! I can imagine flopping up to the WATSU pool in scuba gear! A bit clumsy, but could work!
Water therapy is wonderful, by the way, highly recommended experience!
