E53 Error code
E53 Error code
9 AM this morning our electricity shut off for about 15 secs. My Respitronics Pro 2 will not cut back on and flashes an Error Code E53. There was no alarm beeps. The manual says nothing. Does anyone know what this code means and how I can reset this unit?

Is the blower operating?
From the Troubleshooting and Diagnostics Manual:
Description: ERR_BLOWER_OFF_CURRENT_HIGH
Probable cause: Stalled or locked motor. Defective motor drive chip
Corrective action: Replace blower. Replace main PCA
If you blower is operating try unplugging the AC and see if the error resets.

No sounds at all, just a blinking E53 on the display.

This might sound silly, but try taking out the smart card and putting it back in again. I'm fairly certain this is the error code I sometimes get when I put my smart card back into my machine. Just taking it out and putting it back in again - sometimes it takes 2 or 3 times - always works.

I believe you already tried a power on reset on the machine and this sounds more like a motor drive chip that failed because that part has to handle all the different current levels for the blower all night long. It is more likely that the blower itself is okay. There is a small chance that there might be a separate fuse just for the blower but I would not bet on it. I use a professional surge protector on my medical equipment.

I don't think that is normal. I've had three RemStars (no M yet) and theThis might sound silly, but try taking out the smart card and putting it back in again. only thing that happens when the card is removed is: "beep" and the "CARD" graphic disappears. Put it back in 'beep" and the "CARD" graphic returns.
+ Aussie heated hose.

what does it do with no card at all, the card may have taken a hit.
My machine threw a error at 3 am once(I tried to remember the code) I ended up pulling the card for the rest of the night, and went back to sleep. the next day I erased the card(couldn't get any data off of it)and all has been fine sense.

oldgearhead,
From what I understand, it is pretty common with these machines. My card functions just fine, the machine functions just fine, it's just that every now and then I don't insert it in quite the right way, I guess.
UPDATE
I was about to send this when I decided to try and fiddle with it to see if I could replicate the error. It turns out that what causes the error (at least in my case) is very easy. The card slot is approximately 3cms wider than the card. If the card moves at all while it's inserted - in other words, if it doesn't go in perfectly straight - it beeps and gives the error message. Interesting.
That's a C-1 error, though, not the error OP had. Sorry, OP.

Yep. The first time I got that error message, I checked the manual, and determined there was nothing to worry about, so I promptly forgot what it meant.
It is definitely significantly different from the E53 rusself is having. Before I figured out what the error code meant, though, I figured it couldn't hurt to post it, just in case. It wouldn't hurt Russell to consider it as a possibility, since it would be the easiest thing to fix (too bad it didn't turn out that way, though), and it could potentially help someone else searching the forum at a later date to figure out what the heck a C-1 code is.
Take it easy, and let us know how things turn out, russellf.
