New hose for Swift is out...I have one.....

Post by dllfo » Wed Oct 11, 2006 5:54 pm

We got our first new 2nd Generation Swift Mask Hose today.
Bulletin number 469 accompanied it. Sept 2006, Distribution-Worldwide
Date of implementation Immediate Initial Lot 157612 Sept 8, 2006

Followed by specific words describing the improvements...direct from Resmed.

SO..if you need one, I don't know if DME's have them or not...It was shipped
Oct. 9, 2006....I will let you know if it holds up. The ironic thing in our house hold is that my wife has had two hoses break, I have had one. She had the end come off two of them in about ...maybe 3 weeks.

She is using the Breeze now...guess I will have to buy myself a new one

It was very nice of them to send it......

One more thing, I have spoken to 3 agencies in Sacramento who deal in this
equipment. All three said they had not heard Resmed was doing anything new in their pricing. Since it does not effect them, maybe no one mentioned it. Only one of the three mentioned this pricing thing on the internet would hurt some customers who didn't have insurance.

Installing Software is like pushing a rope uphill.
I have Encore Pro 1.8.65 but could not find it listed
under software.

I LOVE the SV.

Interesting how self absorbed most of us are. Even the professionals who should be keeping up with the latest happenings, often do not.

Please note that there are many professionals who do find time SOMEHOW, cuz it ain't easy, to read the journals and news in their field.

That is why I love the ones who say, "Just a minute. I'm going to go look something up."

I tried to order one from my DME. I made sure they understood that it had to be the new, redesigned hose and that their ResMed rep would know about it. Instead, they sent me a whole new mask with the old hose! Then ResMed contacted me directly and they are sending me one of the new hoses. Oh, well, as long as I get what I need...

I have to give Resmed credit for trying to serve their customers. I appreciate that.

ResMed does do some things well.

Way back in the beginning, I emailed a question (this would have been April, 2006). Within one day, I had an e-mailed answer that was very nicely done.

It is just too bad that they don't go ALL the way to excellent.

dllfo,

Thank you for posting about the new hose and the info that went with it.

May you please describe both the old and new hose for me. I got a Swift today. I do not know where the lot number or date is written or what either hose looks like.

I would appreciate it . Thank you once again.

I can do this, I will do this.

I will look for the sheet of information that accompanied it.

I compared it to our "old" ones...actually we have had 2 of them under a month but the new one is identical.

I looked for the "barb" they show in the diagram, at the end of the straight piece....where your mask slides into the hose coming out of the XPAP. I could not really see any barb. I got a big magnifying glass, the kind with a light
around it. No barb that I could see. EVERY feature they described as "different" appears to be the same. I even got my wife's grow light, which would light the house up...we looked THROUGH the plastic for differences and cannot find ONE SINGLE difference. I gave you the numbers at the beginning of this thread, you might try calling Resmed to see if they can tell you what to look for.

Since ours are so new, maybe we have 3 of the new hoses. I really don't know.

The post for giving Resmed credit for trying was me, sorry about that. I will check to be sure I am signed in before I submit this one. Yep, I am.

I can scan their sheet into my computer and email it if anyone is interested or with adult supervision I can try to put it on this thread...if anyone is interested....

You may have gotten another old hose by mistake. I just got my new one and looking closely I can definitely see the difference. It is subtle, but the "barbs" are visible on mine, just as depicted in the accompanying flyer.

Thanks for info, no need to scan the pictues.

I have no idea what the barbs are.

In one picture of the complete hose, I saw something black on it. I am not sure if this in an optional peice.

Mine does not have it.

I thought the end peice that connects to the xPAP does not detach from the hose.

I can do this, I will do this.
