Strange treatment question?

Post by kurtr » Wed Oct 11, 2006 10:05 am

My problem is this:
If I lie on my back with either CPAP or APAP setting my AHI is 3-4 and my AI is about 1 but I wake up feeling terrible and feel that way all day.
If I use a wedge pillow my AHI is 1-2 and my AI is about .5 and I wake up feeling good.
Any ideas why if my numbers are OK lying on my back I feel bad, and what about proping me up makes my numbers better and makes me feel good??
Should the CPAP air split work properly either way?

Thanks,
Kurt

Just a guess...perhaps propping your upper body up some is controlling possible untreated or undertreated acid reflux better?

I very rarely feel good when I have an AHI above 3, so the numbers might not matter that much - they're possibly not that reliable, or indicative of sleep disruptions. Do what you have to do in order to feel good.
