I dream of the day that we will look back an say that the mask of today is the horse and buggy days.
Could it be that as there is a pacemaker for the heart , a monitor might track our breathing at night and a stimulator be inserted (somewhere) to kick us into the correct pattern. Duke University , N.C. where are you? Just dreaming!
Just a thought. Could this be the horse and buggy days?

You're not dreaming!
Researchers at Case Western Reserve University are developing an implanted medical device slightly larger than a postage stamp to help 20 million Americans who suffer from the sleep disorder. The device will operate like a heart pacemaker.

Neversleeps...Thank you so much for your reply. I had not heard this and it gives me a light heart to think that maybe a time will come that our sentence will be lightened. I have a long story to tell but felt it too long to relay here. So will start a new thread. *************
This device certainly comes across as an interesting direction.
As with most types of new approaches, it is sure to have its benefits and its restrictions.
It is interesting though, to think of something akin to contact lenses or pacemakers that seem to do well for some people.
