New to Forum

Post by hcdjr » Fri Oct 06, 2006 12:06 pm

I just wanted to say hello to all and also express my happiness in finding this forum. I have been using CPAP for 4 years and had no idea that I could actually monitor and manage my own therapy. I just purchased my new machine and I am now going to order the appropriate software with which I can finally began to get an idea of whether or not the therapy is actually working and how well. New machine is being delivered today and I can't wait. My old one is a dinosaur, but it has provided me with many a restful night.

welcome to the forum, hcdjr and welcome into the 21st century of XPAP machines! LOL It's great to see someone with as much experience as you come on board. How did you manage to get through 4 years??? That's awesome, and it''s great hearing you say CPAP got you many restful nights.

Good to be here, I realized I needed a sleep study when I would drive to work (long commute) and find myself literally falling asleep at the wheel and there was nothing I could do to stop it. My sleep study verified what I suspected when the tech came in in the first 30 minutes and fitted me with a mask.

I've come here for only ~6 months, and have used my CPAP for about that long. Usually, when seeing something about new to the forum or a newbie, then there are a lot of questions about the mechanics of using the machines, hoses, masks/interfaces, etc. This is surely not the case for you.

IMHO, this is the best sleep apnea forum and it is VERY supportive. I would encourage you to use the search feature to look for postings relating to your equipment. (Maybe you already have done so!) Had I come here for strap fixes and so on, I might have still kept my Swift. I do like my ComfortLite 2, though, and adapted some of the fixes.

Welcome, and plunge right in. There are even some planning a cruise together, under the organizational efforts of a fellow forum hosehead.

Congratulations on your compliance, and keep learning! Any experiences that have worked for you are certain to be warmly welcomed, so PLEASE help us to keep on learning.
