DC area Doctor Needed who easily prescribes APap

Post by dcpap » Fri Oct 06, 2006 12:16 am

5 years on Cpap, with only minimum benefits - but enough to keep me using it.
After learning about APap and successfully getting one for my brother (Thanks to you all esp RestedGal, DSM, etc), I realize the benefits I could get from AutoPap.
Does anyone know a doctor in the Washington DC area (in the city is slightly preferable) who is sympathetic to Apap's?
I, thanks to this group, can handle the justifications, etc
Thanks, - madison

you don't need a special prescription to purchase a autopap from cpap.com, your original script would work just fine to get any autopap you want. If you don't have a copy of that try and get another from your GP, tell him you need a new machine. Order it on-line you'll save a ton.

I was able to convince a pulmonologist at Georgetown to write the prescription. I told him the reasons outlined here in many posts and that I already checked with my ins co re coverage. He had no problem writing it exactly as I wanted (Respironics APAP with HH). I also told him that I wanted to be able to monitor through software as a reason as well. The number for the Division of Pulmonology and Critical Care Medicine is 202-444-8830. The other thing I would suggest is trying your primary care/general internist if you have one.
