Aeiomed Everest CPAP machine has yet another new name

Post by rested gal » Thu Oct 05, 2006 3:15 pm

"A rose by any other name....."

It started out as Aeiomed's Aura CPAP machine.

It became Aeiomed's Everest CPAP machine.

Now, with Invacare handling the marketing of that machine for Aeiomed, it's the Polaris TR CPAP machine.

By any name, it's a sweet little machine.

Maybe they are trying to cover all the bases.

AURA, High in the Sky

EVEREST, High altitude CPAP

Now, POLARIS, Ocean Breeze Deep

As long as it doesn't have Rainout issues. Jim

I thought they were going way out, since Polaris is the name for the pole star.....

There's an interesting story behind that. It is a little known fact they were all set to roll it out as the Aeiomed Pluto after the ninth planet in our solar system, but the day before the big release Invacare found out Pluto got kicked out and there are now only eight planets. The advertising department had to scramble to find a new moniker and suggested calling it the Battery-Powered Uranus blower, but this idea was resoundingly rejected. In the end they decided to name it after the North Star, figuring if by some stroke of incredibly bad luck Polaris should burn out in the near future, they'd go with their backup plan and simply call it 'Fred'.

At least, that's the plan. For now.

They can't. They're out of names.
