Advice for Bipap Auto or M Series Auto Bipap

Post by elliejose » Wed Oct 04, 2006 11:56 pm

I go back to MD next Tue. Have talked to RPsgT and I should be getting script for Auto Bipap at this time.
I really want to try the smaller M Series due to the size of and limited space on my night table. Is there any reason to stick with the regular Auto Bipap? If not, other than for my convenience, what should my argument be for getting the M instead of the regular.
I figure it is my insurance and money, why can't I have the one I want!! Has anyone used the M Series Auto Bipap, and if so what are the pros and cons of having this machine? From what I understand, treatment is no different between the two. I don't mind paying more for the smaller unit. But I am afraid if my cost is the same and it only means a smaller profit for the DME, then I will not be allowed the option. I want to be prepared when I go in.
HELP!!! PLEASE!!!

A BIG THANX!!

Josie

I would get the latest and greatest "M" series. It will have more features and functions than current model and it will display info from the LCD (current model doesn't). The M series machine will also have the latest version of firmware.

It may not be on the cpap.com website yet, but if you Email Adam, I'm sure they can get you one if one can be had.

Only wish I could. Bill My Insurance checked for me and my insurance (BCBS) will not allow me to buy outright. I must rent for 10 months at a set rental fee and then the unit is mine. Only option!! Rent equals much lower price than the Cpap.Com price even, so I must take advantage of it (also consider the high premium I am already paying for the insurance.) Just hope I am able to convince someone that I really NEED the newer M Series. I am sure going to try to get the MD to write the Script for the M. And if he writes it as such, hopefully, DME won't give any flak. I think I will print the brochure and take with me (in case MD has no clue) and tell him that this is the one I want. It's worth a try anyway.

Along with that smaller footprint , you get higher cost, smaller filters and a chance of MyEncore not working correctly with it.,, Jim

Derek's "MyEncore" add-on program might not (I don't know, since I use only Encore Pro) but Encore Pro 1.6 will, same as it does for any M series machine and the previous Respironics machines.

Elliejose,

If you really want the M series, then that's what you should try to get.

However, remember that your current Encore Pro won't work with the M series. Unless you want to purchase the newer software, you might want to get the older version of Auto BiPap.

Just a thought.
