I was having trouble getting onlline, and couldn't swing it for what seemed like a long time. And look what Offerocker got into while I wasn't watching!! I'm surprised that you didn't think of a duct-tape chain.
And, I truly love the Titrator's earring suggestion!
RE: Hosehead Jewelry
Yes, I'd go for it, but I prefer white gold or sterling silver--but I'd go for something else if that were to be the only choice.
I suppose you'd like PLATINUM?!?
...YOU'RE telling ME to behave?! Well just HOW would you know, Karen?birdshell wrote:
Thanks, all of you. I have just been wrangling cords and manuals and etc., so I really needed this (semi-serious) laugh.
Now, behave yourself, Offerocker!
BTW, how many of us "Karen" hoseheads are there on this forum? We may have to have a group of our own, since I'm sure we all think that OUR first name is the best one!
And, all of you non-Karens probably think YOURS is the best.
Karen
Yours may be the 'origin', but mine is the 'improvement', ha ha ha...(your turn)...but NOW we'll have one for our Barbie & Ken cpap outfits, eh?
Your friend in mental cruelty...to others!

Seeing that this "mask" is used in the NICU, how many hundreds of dollars do you think they charge for it????dsm wrote:I thought I had seen the lot
I was shown one mask that was hand made by one of the pioneers in cpap when experimenting on his 1st patients. I bet he never imagined they would ever get that small.
That is unreal !
I say this as a father who spent $90,000 on a 10 day stay in the NICU for my twins.
BTW, I think the idea of making cpap charms is a great one!
I don't know about other NICU's--but in my unit the mask itself is a non charged item--it goes along in the charges for being on CPAP. I agree--NICU care is expensive--but could you really put a price on your twins? If they were in the NICU--they must have needed that care--and Neonatal medicine has come along way--we are having better outcomes now than ever before, and the majorityof these little ones do get well and go home and live normal healthy lives.
I do hope that your twins did well and went home healthy and happy

PREEMIERN:
The magic words: HEALTHY and HAPPY
I'm sure wadingthruthemuck was NOT complaining, merely pointing out the corresponding cost of the delicate, dedicated teamwork of every one involved, including the researchers and equipment manufacturers, and the foresight of *some* hospitals.
I am in awe whenever I find out what is being done each year.
Children's Miracle Network works through the Hershey Medical Center here, and I personally know of one outstanding success story about a preemie with heart problems. She is amazing now!!! Cheerleading in college, etc.
Thank everyone who is involved in ANY way to these successes - and the courageous attempts, for they are not true failures, when something is learned, or just beyond man's knowledge or control *today*.

Ellen/Karen/indy/DSM/Den/everyone!: Do you get the chilly-willies that maybe we 'met' here for some reason??whatrdreamsmadeof wrote:What a super idea, after all I've not seen a medical pendant yet that says cpap or hoser out there, Many jewelers will cast a mold and make it out of whatever metal you want,,,,,,,,,,,let's get a group discount..........after that how about a cell phone with cpap capabilities...Not kidding here,,,,,,,,,,,,,Ellen
If everyone who reads this thread (the serious stuff) will think about it for one week, and also TALK to OTHER people about this idea - for IDEAS AND ANSWERS...or just put out some suggestions. The more people thinking and getting involved, the more information we can gather.
Who makes these? Can THEY be contacted via your supplier, preemiern?
btw, are you permitted to keep used ones? I know that is a dangerous question in a health environment, considering SSDs, but I am also considering that they can be identified and isolated?
There does exist a mold for these little life savers!
That's how THEY got made.
Now, the difference would possibly be the TYPE of mold/die used due to different material (not injection, for example) that we need to be used.
(...I just never learned "enough" from my daddy...about those things)
So, if you know a single-minded tool & die maker out there, find out what we need to know, OK men?
How do we go about representing 'us' to the makers of the original? Anyone got the experience and ....calling for the Marines here!!

That's right! My only complaint is that the dedicated staff you refer to likely receives very little of that $9000/day. BTW that amount was the in-network discount price. LOL!
I PM'd preemiern with the details of our experience since it is off topic to the discussion here.
The ultra-high cost of medical care is definitely of concern to the folks using this forum. For many of us, our search to find a less expensive alternative to the local DME has lead us to cpap.com and their forum.
Sincerely,

STILL WADING: So, you've already spent the equivalent of a Master's Degree for each of them. What an investment. What parents. I hope they are doing well and do not need continued treatment. You don't need to respond, I just had a need to say it. Just getting STARTED in this place (LIFE) is pretty rough, then one has to LIVE it yet!

I did not mean for my post in response to Wading's post to sound so defensive--but looking back at it now--I see that indeed--it does sound defensive--I am sorry...I really did not mean to come across that way.
I did PM Steve and asked if he would post NICU pics and now pics of his twins--I would love to see them!!
