No Idea how things go?

Post by ready2sleep » Thu Sep 28, 2006 4:30 pm

I went for a sleep test, I felt like I didnt sleep at all. I waited a week then called the sleep center and asked the woman who answers the phone how long would it take to get the diagnosis back. She said the dr. made a diagnosis and that he suggested cpap treatment. She told me the medical equipment company would get in touch with me. That was last wednesday, I havent heard from them yet. Can anyone tell me, am I supposed to be calling them? Do they call me? I have no idea how this works.

Find out who the DME is and give them a call. If you're lucky it won't be Apria! Ask the DME if there is anything you can do to make this quicker(do they need more paperwork, do they have your correct phone #, etc).

Get your preseciption in your hands and deal with whomever you want to deal with. Get a copy of the sleep studies too. Why let the doctor pick who you have to have a business relationship with?

Call your insurance company and find out copay. Call multiple dme's and ask the total cost of the machine you want.

Don't take anything you aren't happy with as it may limit your ability to get something different or switch DME's.
