I am presently renting a resmed vantage auto machine from my dme. Do I need a prescription to change it for a remstar auto/w c-flex? Also should my insurance only be charged for the months that the machine was rented or will I be responsible for more $ as I am not going to buy this machine? Any help would be appreciated as I am going to the dme Wednesday 9/27...........thanks, I'd like to be as informed as possible......

Might depend on if you're going to get the next one through a local DME. Do you have (personal possession of) your prescription? Depending on your plans, you MIGHT have to have your doctor write a specific prescription for the machine you want. If you're going to purchase through someone like CPAP.COM, all it has to say is: CPAP, the pressure and that you're diagnosed with OSA.
You may want to (or need to) contact your insurance provider and see what has to be done concerning your rental situation. Theoretically, they should only be charged with the months you used it......unless there are other details in the "fine print".
Best wishes,
