Got New Hybrid Mask

Post by crd » Sat Sep 23, 2006 10:47 pm

I just received my new Hybrid Mask. Due to nasal congestion, I was taking my comfort lite 2 off during the night. I have always been more of a mouth breather than a nostril breather. Probably because of my allergies. So maybe this will be beneficial. I am going to watch the instruction video then go to bed. I hope this mask is as good as some have reported.

Wish Me Luck.

Hi crd,

I've been on cpap for 2 months and the hybrid is the first and only mask I've used. I watched the video several times, then played with it trying different size cushions and pillows. Each time I changed something I would lay down and roll around trying to make it leak. I settled on the med cushion and small pillows. I can also use the large cushion with the chin flap cut off. I traded my unused parts with someone and now I have a spare cushion and pillow set. I did tie a length of dental floss from one of the masks top posts to the other top post. This helps keep the pillows pulled in a bit closer to my face and closer to each other.
I have had no trouble with this mask...until last night when it started leaking by the elbow. I wrapped white plumber 'tape'(?) around the leaking area and went right back to sleep. I'll check it later to see what the problem is, I may have pulled something loose in my sleep but couldn't figure it out last night. Now that I've had a good nights sleep I'll try to fix it and let you know what happens.

Brenda

crd,

I am curious to how you did with the hybrid. You are using it because you are congested. I thought the hybrid has two nasal things so air goes into nose. Not sure how the mask works. But I do like that it not on the nose.

Hope it worked for you.

Self,
The hybrid has both a nasal part and a mouth part. I've used it when I was congested and found that I could (as long as I had the right seal) open my mouth and breathe whether or not I was breathing through my nose. Matter of fact the only time that I didn't use the hybrid since I've gotten it was when I had a really sore nose that was keeping me up.
