Cure for Liam-induced Insomnia?

Post by LDuyer » Tue Feb 15, 2005 4:18 pm

Is there any cure for my Liam-induced insomnia? We've all become addicted to those closing one-liners from Liam, the Court Jester of the forum. He's a trendsetter, bringing out the creativity of many here who seek to be worthy.

My problem is I can't seem to tear myself away from the forum. I'm up late reading these Liamisms. And when I do hit the hay, I struggle with my mask because I can't stop chuckling.

Now, I don't want to lose out on our Liamisms. I just need my sleep! How does one exercise self-control? Heavy breathing? Any suggestions? Is there a twelve-step program? .......

Linda -- ...she vents,... who needs her sleep, Liam, oh addictive one.

Don't read Liam's postings late in the evening - save them all for the morning. It's a great way to start the day!

Ok, you heard it here first, folks. I'm gonna have to stop posting, because I'm having an ill effect on people.

If you miss the late night silliness, don't blame me, I just don't want people's continued exhaustion on my hands.

Liam, who's completely serious. No, really. Honestly. Hmmmm. OK, maybe not.

I'll find a way

Post by LDuyer » Tue Feb 15, 2005 4:26 pm

I'll find a way to kick the insomnia and enjoy the Court Jester all at the same time!

He's quite the nut, and that's why we love him so.

Court Jester ---- you're welcome to keep me up late any old time!

Linda -- who thinks the Court Jester's humorous work is never done......thankfully!

Well, clearly there's no LACK of my postings. Based on what I just looked at, with this post, I take Titrator's place as the #4 most prolific poster. I am still behind Muck (831) and Rested Gal (6xx) and someone else (see how short my short term memory is?), but with 245, there should be PLENTY to go around.

Liam, who swore to stop using the term "Short". It hurts his ego.

EDITED: restedgal is 620, and chrisp is 380. So it'll be a while before I take over #3. Especially since chrisp is still very prolific.

DEAR LIAM DO NOT STOP

Post by gailzee » Tue Feb 15, 2005 4:57 pm

I won't rest if you stop posting Liam, I swear. (But I swear anyway). In all seriousness, we're all in the SS Apnea Boat (pithy?) and to prevent a major sink we need to keep Liam afloat, happy, and posting. Do not give up.

Isn't this 'net a wonderful thing?

Yes I know what you all mean. I was thinking of starting a post for everyone to share their favorite Liam one-liners, but this post will do.

One of mine was something along the lines of Liam getting a peep stuck in his air hose.

Of course those comments about his wife, 1st or 2nd are always great. And I loved the one about him being not sure if he would keep up the one liners now that everyone else does.

Snorenomore, who thinks Liam probably looks like Napolean Dynomite.

Nah, a bit more like "Mr. Clean".

Well, except for that "Clean" part.

Liam, Not Dave Barry, but an incredible (ly cheesy) simulation!

THATS IT!

I knew there was something special I enjoyed about Liam and that is the fondness for Dave Barry! Dave Barry's daily calendar has replaced my Far Side the past 3-4 years. Of course I am also of the age where my kids finally caught on and replaced birthday/christmas gift ties with Dave Barry books!

Those of you unfamiliar with Dave Barry, you can check him out at http://www.davebarry.com. Here is one of his daily writings -

"I'll put my most recent tax-related letter with all the other tax documents that I do not understand, in a folder marked "Taxes," and I'll mail it to a guy named Evan. A few weeks later he'll mail me back a tax retrun that I will sign and send along to the IRS without reading any part of it, except where it says "SIGN HERE."

Damn, there goes my entertainment value. If everyone starts reading Dave Barry books, I'm going to seem trite and boring by comparison and then I'll have to go back to my day job.

Of course, I'm still AT my day job, because if anyone is paying me for these little essays, someone else is clearly intercepting the checks.

I agree, though, if you enjoy my posts (and think I'm funny), read some Dave Barry. The most consistantly funny person I think I've ever read.

Liam, computer programmer by day, but the computers never seem to laugh at my jokes.

I have an idea. How about we move the Liam fan club to some other forum and allow folks that need help get the attention. Instead, everyone keeps putting this topic to the top of the list bumping down the folks that have real questions and needs.

I have an idea, how about asking a question, then. I haven't seen many questions come through here that haven't been answered timely and well by those who have information to impart. And at the same time, we have some fun.

I didn't set out to create this appreciation people seem to have for my writing, but you'll note that at least half the time, my funny lines follow serious, real information, and there are lots of other folks on here posting as well.

I'd understand your complaint if this board was devoid of ALL useful Apnea talk, but in fact we cover a lot of good topics, provide a lot of good information and support to each other.

Some of the people who helped me the most when I was about ready to give up are the same people who most appreciate my humor, and say it helps make the board a fun place to stay.

Who am I to argue? They did me a favor, in return I'll keep throwing out jokes, especially at the ends of my messages.

Oh, and if you want your opinion to carry any real weight, you might actually IDENTIFY yourself. Takes a lot of guts to post as "Guest" in contrast to what most people are saying.

Put another way, I will bow to the will of the masses, and if I get the impression most people would prefer I be more serious, I will be more serious. As long as I get the sense that my jokes are not merely tolerated, but WELCOMED, they shall remain.

Liam, who is wearing a bozo nose and (in the immortal words of Monty Python) waving his private parts in your general direction, you tiny brained wiper of other people's bottoms.

This forum has kind of grown into a family type support system.

We are not closed to new people and gladly try to answer questions/give support where needed.

I would like to know why you "guest" posted that comment. Did you not get your question answered? Did you not get support?

There is nothing wrong with a little humor. It serves a medicinal purpose for lots of us here. I am glad that Liam can continue to make funny comments that make me laugh. Because having OSA does not make me laugh and the common thread here is that we all are trying to deal with this crappy disease/disorder.

So I say, LIGHTEN UP!!!

Heidi who says Liam is my hero, keep us laughing goof ball!!!
