I too found out about chasing snores, but the cure it simple set the top limit to the best pressure for you in the cpap mode, then it can't go past that level and you still get the best treatment.
Exactly!
When you have that sleep pattern on the Resmed machine if you increase the Max pressure to say 14cm, it can and most likely will reach the Max. setting if allowed. If you were titrated at 9.0cm and set it to 14cm it will eventually get up to the 14cm and/or very close to it.
I've set my Remstar many times at 12.0cm and higher and it too at times would go up there but not very long (according to reports). Pull a report and it shows my 90% still back at 9.0cm. Snore tics will be nearly solid red tics.
I also limit my Remstar to my titrated pressure. Everyone few months I increase it to see if my pressure requirements changed but I usually go back.
My pressure hasn't changed in over 5 years.

Set my auto yesterday 6.6 to 9 woke up after 2 hours coughing which seems to happen at nine always........so tonite I may try a 10 setting. Is there a difference in setting the machine to go up to 10 or should I switch it to straight cpap 10 with epr of 2.
Thanks,
Ellen

Then explain why, when I first got my RemStar Auto M Series, and I had it in Auto Mode, set from 9 to 18 CM, IT RAN ALL NIGHT @ 18 CM with NO/LOW AI/HI, but what it thought were high snores?!?!!? Is the machine actually defective, then?

Did it jump up to 18 all at once?.....or in stages?

In stages, right in line with what it was registering as snores!

Well, maybe it's working the way it's designed to then.....?
Apparently it kept trying to squash the snoring and had to stop at the upper pressure limit.
If you found that the pressure changing was disturbing to your sleep, you might consider trying a fixed pressure for awhile and see what happens.
Concentrate on your AHI results. Try to find the pressure where they're at their minimum and disregard the snoring stats because obviously your machine ISN'T..
Best wishes,

I already just switched to straight CPAP @ my titrated pressure anyway.
My point is that Snoredog is telling me I'm wrong and that the machine did not do what I just said it did, but I'm telling you... IT DID! He's saying it's not supposed to do that. But mine did and does. Does that mean it's defective, or that Snoredog is wrong about what it's supposed to do. He said it's supposed to stop after 3 rises.

Well, I'm not an "expert" in the knowledge of how the algorithms are supposed to work, so I'll let him take a stab at that.
I'm just trying to find out how yours seemed to be rising. Maybe there's a period of "wait" time after it rises the 3 cm and stops....that it starts up again. Dunno....
Good luck.
