Spam Problem???

Post by Goofproof » Mon Sep 18, 2006 8:08 pm

I was answering a post, and got guested. I got a message that due to spam, guests were no longer allowed to post. Did I fall asleep and miss something? It looked like Spam was no longer a issue. Jim

There were "Guests" posting here just last night, Jim, so I don't think there's been a major policy change yet.

Bill

I just seen one spam post since the new stuff was turned on and they put their ad in the subject.

It blocked me as guest and told me spam was the reason. I missed the ones last night. Is everyone's spam button gone or just mine?

My 'delete spam' button is still there.

I havn't had the button since the new rules went into effect. I figured I abused so much Spam. they retired my button. my dog's lost two pounds already, and he's looking at me and licking his chops. I may have to chain him up to keep him from chewing on my leg. Jim

Now I understand. You wore the letters off the button. It's still there. You just can't see it.

Jim,

We'll see if this works....
Were you trying to quote another post that had a link in it?
I accidentally tried to do that awhile back and realized I wasn't logged in.

Interestingly, I almost never accidentally guest-post any more, and it's because my name auto-links (the reason for which, if you are really curious, can be found in the "CPAP Cruise" thread).

As a result, since I always finish my posts with "Liam, <wiseguy comment>", the auto-linker kicks in, then the thing says "Oh, you're a guest, you're not allowed to post links!" and rejects my posting, so I know to go log in and then re-post.

Just a few questions: Didn't they do a new Mod Squad a few years back? Is there a new one? Do all the guys playing Linc have the Afro?
