Is this a design flaw??

Post by krousseau » Sun Sep 17, 2006 11:24 pm

The Hybrid---Because of the design the elbow is lower-plus they have a rotating connector on it. When the hose is connected to that it becomes a very effective lever that hits my blankets and lifts the lower part of the mask away from my face & breaks the seal. If I put it under the blankets it levers the top of the mask up and pops the pillows out. The exhaust ports across the top prevent placing the hose over my head as the exhaust gets very noisy when there is something in front of it.
Is it just me or a design flaw. The mask with a ball & socket type of a connector might work.

Mikemoran found a way to run the hose over your head. Do a search for
Hybrid over the head set up. I haven't switched to my heavy winter comforter yet but this may be a problem for me when I do. I like my room cold and use lots of covers! Since this is the only mask I've used I thought all FF masks had the elbow like that. Once I get my next hybrid I can play with this one and see if that elbow can be cut down or replaced.

That is my next measure-the dreaded hacksaw-I do have a jewelers hacksaw though.I'll be looking at connectors online to see if the "ball & socket" idea is something that could be incorporated into a connector. I see lots of electrical tape in my future.

I wouldn't call it a design flaw, just poor design. A design flaw would be the elbow pulling apart on the mask. Jim

You can clip the hose to your P.J.'s., to take the strain off the hose, altho Mikes idea might be best.

ROTFL!! I gotta admit, I took a long deep breath the first time I was poised with serrated knife in hand, about to attack the tongue guide thingie on the original Oracle.

Took another long breath when I went after the Aura's headgear.

Barely blinked by the time I whipped out a hacksaw to amputate the CL2's top-of-head elbow.

It gets easier and easier to wreak mayhem, krousseau.

A mask fights ya...fight back! Sounds like you're choosing your weapon wisely and well.
