Hose Disconnect

Post by mothra7 » Sun Sep 10, 2006 10:06 am

I have a Hybrid (which I love), but on occasion during the night, I get a great rush of air and realize that the hose has become disconnected from the mask. It's pushed on as hard as I can make it, but still the disconnect sometimes happens (maybe from sleep movement? Although I'm not a restless sleeper...)

Anyway, has anyone else found a good solution to this problem? I'm so grateful to have this forum as a source of information!

I don't have this problem. However, I suggest you try reversing the hose
or get another one.

I almost jerked the xPAP off the night-stand the other night. The unit moved several inches, but the hose stayed secure.

Another observation: The Aussie Heated Hose fits a bit tighter than the
stock RemStar hose..

+ Aussie heated hose.

mothra, do you have the hose rigged up to hang overhead from the headboard or the wall? That can help keep the weight of the main air hose from tugging on a mask or headgear when you toss and turn.

You might also look on cpap.com at a swivel hose connector, to use between your main air hose and the mask. The hose and mask might fit together more securely with a connector between them.

Besides switching ends of the hoseswipe out the end connector with Isopropry Alcohol on a rag do the mask end too, Body oils, may get on them and make them too slick to hold. Jim

Idea!

If all else fails, maybe a zip tie (aka a cable tie) around the rubber would help it to stay on. They come in a removable form or the standard "just you try to get me off" type.

I had that problem "...in the beginning..." - I ended taping that thing on!
Luckily, I was all out of duck tape.
I hope you find a better solution/cause, because most any tape will leave residue.
(Hint: Lighter fluid removes sticky stuff)

Lighter fluid

Will lighter fluid not dull the plastic?
