Also I was not told anything about cleaning. There is not a booklet in the bag of stuff. I feel that there is much I do not know and feel that the techie should have told me more and had me go through the steps. Perhaps I should have foreseen the problems and insisted.

It actually sounds as if you are doing quite well with the cleaning methods you are already using.
Here are some links to some rather extensive discussions on cleaning. I believe the S7 is fairly close to the S8, which I have. The ResMed site has information and PDF brochures for some of their equipment; some of the information may be helpful.

I was told to use plain (no scents, antibacterial, or moisturizing) detergent daily on parts that touch the face and the humidifier. Of course, one is supposed to rinse well in warm/hot water afterward.
If the booklet was as wonderful for the S7 as for the S8, it would leave you in confusion about cleaning, anyway!
Then there is the Swift manual: It tells one to use a pure soap, such as Dove, which is 1/4 moisturizer; Dove also has fragrance (even the unscented has a masking fragrance) unless one can find the Sensitive Skin formula.
You certainly can read a cornucopia of advice on these threads:

Best of luck in choosing a cleaning regime with which you are comfortable.
