The other night I did all my good "go to sleep" things. Stretches, sinus rinse, quiet time, Poli-Grip strips, top off the humidifier, power on the machine, turn on the humidifier, feel the Aussie hose heat up, fit my nice clean Swift carefully, settle in to listen to some quiet music and fade off into dreamland.
S**t! Can't get settled, breathing seems unusual but I've had a little congestion so I keep waiting for it to settle down. Toss, turn, get irritated by the music and decide to get up to turn it down, or off.
Hmmmm! No exhaust on the Swift? Hmmmm?! machine is not running!???? What the heck!???? It seemed like it was running, the exhaust sounded like it was running.
Come to find out I forgot to put the end cap on the Swift and the Remstar never autostarted. The sound of my breathing with the end cap off sounded just like the Swift does normally and I didn't notice.
Just an FYI - don't try to use the Swift without an end cap - it don't work!

Snoozin,
I did something very similar, only I forgot to reconnect the hose to the machine. Cleaned the hose and attached it to the mask, put the mask on and laid back expecting the machine to auto-on as usual. So there I am, laying there, taking deeper and deeper inhalations and expirations, trying to get the machine to kick in, yet still no auto-on. Figured it was time to investigate why and found I never reconnected the hose to the machine.
Don't feel so bad. We all do it. We just don't all admit we do. This thread should be pages long with stories like this if we all admitted our Homer moments.

Good One!
That is just the kind of thing that makes us human! And, as one who looked for a week for the little end cap in my bathroom (it is a pesky little part!) I feel some of your pain. It would be easy to forget, because the Swift has MANY parts.
When I first got my CPAP, and had used it for about 3 weeks when I was given a CL 1. The second night, I awoke to find the machine running and the direct seal in contact with the sheets, not my nose. I'd taken it off the headgear in the middle of the night. Boy, did I feel a bit embarrassed but also saw the humor in "suiting up" only to get no benefit after removing the interface.
It was amazing that the air blowing down the tube right over my nose did not bother me at all.

I put the Swift mask on backwards one night in the dark and couldn't figure out for the life of me why the air was blowing back on my upper lip and why the nasal pillows just wouldn't fit right!! Another time I couldn't figure out why the machine was whistling and no air was coming out.Panicked,I turned on the light thinking that I broke it only to discover I hadn't connected my hose down tight enough on the humidifier! Ah well,I am a Natual Blonde after all so things like this happen almost every hour!! Ha ha !
