That S hook and doorknob (plus Chinese tote bag?) sounds like a winner. It all seems to depend on the conformation of one's headboard and placement of the bed. I just make sure the length of the hose allows me to have enough freedom and push it between the headboard and the mattress, which holds it beautifully. I tried several other types of hose holders, but this one works the best for me.
As far as the link to the hose clip above, it really looks as if the clip is the kind from a nametag (or even one from a child's mittens or suspenders would work) plus one of the velcro cord-controller wraps that has hooks on one side and loops on the other so it sticks to itself.
Thanks, Melissa, because when I travel the bed may not be the same as mine. With your suggestion, I have all I need to make one myself. You are certainly getting familiar with all of the xPAP treatment 'fixes'.
Ahh, the things we do to sleep well. One guy even drilled a hole for his hose in the closet wall and kept the xPAP machine in the closet since the noise bothered his wife. That is one of the ultimate hose holders!
Lastly, I'd like to second Rested Gal's use of a pantyhose or tights leg strap. Her knot is amazingly good, too. Just a little tug or a pull and it is adjusted. Her strap idea has really, really helped me to steady the tube leading to the nasal interface direct seal just enough to keep it in contact with my nostrils. My only problem is keeping all the velcro from the headgear from grabbing the strap!
I'm going to have to try the fleece and velcro solution, too. I just haven't gotten to it yet, but that sounds very good.
Best wishes in your search for sleep.

You've got it birdshell! I think we all have alot in common on this forum and its not just we are all cpap users, we are all innovative inventors and could probably come up with really cool products and make some money, like padacheek, if only I could stay up all night and work on it all night, LOL

Ok, another night with cl2 using the nasal pillows. I did awesome, did not remember one part of the night. No waking up, no leaks (I think), nothing. Felt really refreshed this morning and my nose was not sore, not sure if that's b/c I put some saline gel in and under my nose last night. I'm really starting to like this thing.

I use the ComfortLite 2 and also love it. We are all different, but I have not had a problem with soreness since I started using it about two months ago, and have never used the nasal gels. I have to play with it every once in a while, but mostly just put it on like a baseball cap and I'm good to go. I plan on ordering a backup in the near future. I would like to try the direct seals but have not heard much input on them - will probably stick with the cushions, don't want to press my luck. Isn't it nice to have everything working? My next venture will be to seek out my ideal FF mask, for those stuffy days - I just hope my luck holds out that long. Good to hear that you finally found one that works for you Melissa. --- BT

I make my own hose clip from a small pony tail scrunchy & I attach a name tag clip to it . It is very simple to do & costs much less to do it yourself.

And where do you hook it to?

For the hose clips;
2 sided velcro - Home depot or hardware store $2-$3 for pkg of 5
Name tag clips - Staples or stationary store $5-$9 for pkg of 10
Similar clip at Craft store $4 for pkg of 20
I made my own for about $1 each. Wrap the velcro around the hose, attach the clip to the sheet, and it works great!

It depends on what mask I am using where I hook it on to. If iam using a nasal mask I hook it on to my nightgown because the hose is running down the front it keeps the weight of the hose from tugging on the mask. If I am using my nasal pillows & the hose is running from the back of my head I hook it on my bed pillow or my sheet this also stops the hose from pulling on the nasal pillows. I also attach the hose to my bedpost & the hose clip is close to me.

I have found this type of chin-strap to be very good for all kinds of uses.
However, it will not hold your mouth shut...
Question: is this

the chin strap being referenced in the above note? And is this being used sort-of like the giant duck-billed hosehead effect with a baseball cap or visor? Thanks....

This thread is over two years old, but I believe they are talking about ways to support the hose over the bed to control how the hose pulls on the mask. Jim

The chinstrap to which you refer is, I believe, the one that Old Gearhead was speaking about. I was first issued this one, and for me, it definitely did not work. It slid off my hair so many nights that I am impressed that there actually IS another use for it.

Hi Melissa,
I've got a bunch of masks but keep on coming back to the good ole CL2. I have a CL2 padacheek which seems to keep it from riding up (fleece on the underside and top) and also protects my hair. I also wear one of RG's straps to stabilize. I use the nasal pillows (used KY jelly just outside and inside my nose, before donning mask, for a couple of months. Now I don't need it anymore). I do occasionally switch around to other masks but I'm starting to find the little tricks that help the CL2 work better.
When I first put CL2 on, I lay down and turn on machine. Then I pull the nasal pillows out slightly and the pressure will push them back in, usually with a better seal. I generally do that 1-3 times and the seal will then be good for the night.

Jim,
Yes, well... it may be an older thread, but what are archives for?
The way I read it, the chinstrap was being used as a support for the tube piece of the CL2 to hold it in place, somewhat like using a ball cap or visor. Or at least, that's what I thought I was reading. No telling what my brain is doing at this point....

Oh, yes -- having a Forum like this where you can find out what works for a number of people, and what doesn't work, and make an
informed decision about what you want to do. Not to mention finding out that there are many options that were certainly never mentioned by doctors or providers!
I didn't want the thing as a chin strap, but as an add-on to my CL2!
