Replacement parts for my ComfortFull2 Mask.

Post by Krelvin » Tue Sep 05, 2006 11:01 am

I've been using a ComfortFull2 since June. Works great.... When I first got my Bi-Pap, the DME gave me a mask that didn't work well because they didn't have a ComfortFull2 in stock (I did my sleep study with 3 masks and the ComfortFull2 was the one that worked).

They ordered one for me, but I couldn't wait, so I ordered one from CPAP.com and had it the next day. A week later (yea real fast), the DME delivered the one they orderd.

Cool, now I have a spare.

I needed it. About 3 weeks after using the mask, the forehead bridge part broke. My fault, I sat on it! No problem, I just took the one from the spare. The next morning, I spent about an hour trying to figure out what was the correct part number etc.. and ordered one.... Expensive about $22 with shipping.

Now I have a full spare again.

Well this saturday, it broke again. Not my fault this time. Looks like the weak link... I used my spare and ordered 2 replacements this time.

Got to thinking though.. I should complain to Respironics... Found their website, finally found how to leave a comment and did.

This morning, found an email reply.... they are sending me a replacement bridge for free (cool of them)... and they also informed me that the masks have a 90 day warranty and that I should contact my DME for a replacment.

So, I give Apria a call and ... they are sending out a replacement.

So shortly, I should have 2 full spare masks, and 2 spare bridges.

I also found that my Flex Spending account covers these and has already refunded me for the first replacment I bought, and will for the other two. Really my own money but makes it about 30% cheaper.

I finally gave up on the ComfortFull2 because it just wasn't working for me -- especially after my pressure was increased from 8 to 11. However, I agree with you that the bridge is a really weak link on the mask.

The first time I used it I awoke to the sound of my CPAP alarm. I apparently tried to adjust the mask in my sleep and the bridge had come completely apart. The same thing happened the next night so I used some nylon strapping tape to hold it in place for a few nights.

I never actually broke it, but I'm sure I came pretty close at least a couple of times.

Other than the bridge issues, the mask works well for me, and I have very high pressures.

That's not so long compared to my experience. I used 3 interfaces (Swift, Puritan-Bennet ADAM, and ComfortLite 1) while waiting for my ComfortLite 2 for over 3 weeks.
