reclined napping

Post by DreamStalker » Sun Sep 03, 2006 2:03 pm

Just woke up from a 1.5 hour nap in a reclined position ... first apap nap ever. I scored a 0.12 leak rate and a whopping 0.0 AHI ... yep my first 0.0 score.

I guess the reclined position made the difference? Anyone else done this?

President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

I have run the APAP for naps or all night in the recliner and gotten good results too.

considering you have a beard, very good results but you cannot really tell much from a 1.5hr nap. Most REM you would have would come after that and that is where most SDB events are seen. If you have a copy of your last PSG look for latency to REM should be shown in minutes. If it showed like 212 minutes then you may have never reached REM during your nap and therefor 0.0 events.

During your regular sleep hours you will have more REM periods towards the end of the sleep session or morning hours and more SDB events seen as a result. If the machine is doing its job you may even dream.

Your before results appear to show very strange ratio of AI to HI, with AI the highest. Seeing that, I would adjust pressure until you reach the lowest AI indice. AI's are the ones more likely to cause problems from desaturations.

I don't see how my beard would have any effect while using the Swift.

As for short nap, I do recall being woken up from a dream by the alarm clock ... and since going on the PAP treatment, I have been dreaming a lot each night too.

I checked my PSG and:
... my 2 hour long diagnostic REM latency was 72.0 minutes with a total REM time of 10 minutes towards the end of the period.

... my 5 hour long therapeutic/titration REM latency was 14.0 minutes with a total REM time of 132 minutes in 3 relatively equal blocks of about 45 minutes separated fairly evenly at begining, middle, and end of sleep period.

My treated AIs are already around 0.2 and the highest has been 0.6 ... can I really lower them consistently to 0.0?

Thanks for the comments ...

EDIT UPDATE:

I added a scan of my PSG chart and highlighted the diagnostic period (red) and treatment period (blue) as well as the REM periods.
