Well, to be entirely truthful and literal, according to Webster's DME stands for:

DUMB MOTHERS EXTRAORDINAIRE

I have to agree with that statement but most people would think the acronym would come out sounding Dee Mess as in look at D MESS you have gotten me into. A much more fitting name.

It stands for Dry Malt Extract. It's used in brewing beer.
