Mask search over...finally.

Post by JCraig » Fri Sep 01, 2006 5:18 am

As much as I hate to support The Evil Ones(tm), I have to say... The Activa is the perfect mask (for me). It really does work as advertised. I had the lowest leak numbers and lowest VSI (not that it matters -- but it was low and I like to see low numbers) and normal AHI last night with this thing. And it is QUIET. And you can wear the straps ludicrously loose! And it still seals!

Did cpap.com's sizing guide provide an accurate mask size for you?

No, the sizer says the mask would not work for me. But it sure as heck does, it's awesome. Size "Standard" is perfect.

Congrats JCraig!!

What were all the masks that you tried before finding your perfect fit?

Not many, really, it just was really frustrating (and expensive), hehe.

F&P HC405 (that's what I had in the lab, liked it)...But at home had some leak issues, not bad though, keeping this for a backup.

Breeze... Just no stability unless I add a front strap and then I get upper lip and nare irritation.

Aura/Headrest... Just not workable for me at all. Have to bend wires so far that the airflow is compromised and there's lots of noise. Plus I don't like the pillows on this device at all. They're just too "floppy".

That's it. Not as many as some (or even most) but expensive and annoying nonetheless!

The Breeze and Aura are for sale; I posted a separate thread for that.

I too have found the Activa to be the best of the best "so far" for me as well. Indeed you can have the straps next to not even fastened and get a decent seal (on your back). Once on one's side you will have to have them at least connected My next move is for a FF mask. I've had NO luck with the F&P 431...leaks like a sieve. I'm likely going to try a ResMed model to start with. I am a one who sleeps on my left side so it can be an issue.

I ALSO SLEEP ON MY LEFT SIDE. THE ULTRA MIRAGE FF MASK WORKS FOR ME. MY LEAK RATE IS VERY LOW TO NON EXISTANT. I SLEEP WITH A PILLOW BUNCHED UP AND MY FACE SLIGHTLY OFF THE PILLOW. IT WORKS FOR ME. PAT
