Why Is There No Data On My Smart Card

Post by John Galt » Tue Aug 29, 2006 5:09 am

I have had my Smart Card for 3 days. The first two days, I found data on it. This morning I found no new data. What could be the problem?

I have it set not to delete data. Is that a problem? Any other ideas?

did you make sure the card was in all the way
by checking that the lcd reflected card???

that would keep data from going onto the card

just a thought

I did verify that the apap was recognizing the card before I turned it on last night. But, still no data. The apap indicates only 2 days of data (and this was day 3) and the computer indicates no data for last night. It didn't record but it was properly seated.

John,

When you went through the steps to download the card this morning, did you notice whether the light turned green on the cardreader? Coincidentally, I had something similar happen this morning. When I clicked on the steps to download the card, nothing happened.....it immediately went away. So, I slid the card out a little ways and reinserted it and it changed to green and then the download went fine when I reselected it. This has happened a number of times to me, so I knew what happened. These cards, card readerrs, and USB ports can frequently get funky with this software.

Best wishes,

Yes. After finding no data, I checked it again. I did have a green light. I even tried downloading again. Still no data. The preceding two days still exist on the card. Even when I insert it into the apap, it reports that there are two days of data when there should be three days of data.

smart cards GRRR

Not just encore software ...
It happens with my work smart card.
It likes to say there is nothing there once or twice
every couple of weeks.

I really think with two days of data showing up
that the card was not fully inserted into the xpap
last night and did not recored

but it would not affect the other data
and there is not way now to know since when you
put it back in ... it is there already....

I've experienced a similar problem, even though I'm pretty sure the Smart Card was correctly inserted into the APAP

Hi John Galt,

This also happened to me but it was my fault. I was sure I had the card properly inserted in the APAP but no data. As wolftracker said you have to be sure the arrow appears on the APAP LCD. Often when I push the card in all the way the arrow does not come on until I just ease it out a wee bit.

Hope you get it working.
